Image was taken tonight at my hometown of Wahiawa, on the island of Oahu.
The sun right at the edge of the world, half-dipped below the horizon like it’s pausing just to be admired. The sky is layered deep amber melting into molten gold, then soft peach, then a slow fade into lavender and indigo.
From the sun, long rays of light spill outward, fanning through thin clouds like fingers brushing water. Each beam is visible, not harsh, just glowing cutting through the sky at angles that make everything feel bigger and quieter at the same time. Dust and salt in the air catch the light, so it almost looks touchable.
When phrasing this image I was at a lost of words. My heart felt a sense of urgency.
Like seeing my mother in the sky. Miss her dearly each day but this sunset was a sign of hope. One of thriving into a new chapter. One to evolve. Photography is within my mind body heart and soul.
