Hawaiian monk seal
Native only to Hawaiʻi
Endemic (found nowhere else)
Estimated population: about 1,600–1,700
This video was taken on the West side of Oahu
Native area for them to rest. This endangered animal is resting up for the next voyage. I left this video silent to embrace the true surreal nature of this animal. Sacred to Hawaiians the Hawaiian Monk Seal is one of good luck to us and very friendly energy. I love the way this video shows the yes open to look then turn away. Right back to rest in a safe mindset.
Humans on the other end of me were making some noise which I made sure they kept it down. We make sure this Seal gets rest without being bothered.
Human interaction is the nuisance for these fine creatures.
