Nevou na Rua 4
In Brazilian slang, “nevou” literally means “it snowed”. In the context of hairstyle culture, it refers to bleaching the hair completely until it turns fully white, like snow. This look became a strong aesthetic statement in the favelas, connected to youth culture, street fashion, and collective identity.
The scene portrays Piu, an artist and barber, showcasing both nevou and reflexo in front of the Salão dos Crias, located on Rua 4 - Rocinha. The barbershop is run by Piu and four friends, who work together every day cutting and styling the hair of local residents. By the end of the year, the salon becomes so crowded—with many men from the favela bleaching their hair—that Piu often has to finish some clients’ haircuts outside, right on the street.
