REFLEXO

The "REFLEXO" (hair highlights technique) is a form of bleaching done with a perforated cap, through which small strands are pulled and lightened. The result is a set of illuminated sections that contrast with the natural hair color—a style that became iconic in Brazilian favelas, associated with youth, street fashion, and the affirmation of identity. In the artwork, we see Thiago in a close-up portrait, resting under the sun on the rooftop. The light emphasizes the highlights in his hair and the interplay of shadows across his face and chest. Thiago is a rapper who works as a delivery driver to support his dreams. Born in Ceará and raised in Rocinha since childhood, his image conveys both the memory of migration and the strength of favela identity.
