Humilis
"Humilis" emerges as a reflection on humility and humanity triggered by the idea of “The humility of the body in motion”, drawing inspiration from Hokusai's reverent approach to anatomy. This project explores movement as an expression of the humility of our essence: each gesture reveals the impermanence of the body, dissolving the "self" and integrating us into a greater whole.
Humility, understood as the acceptance of our limits and vulnerabilities, finds a fascinating paradox in the moving body. On one hand, movement symbolizes the infinite potential that has driven human development throughout history; on the other, it is within those limits that inspiration arises to overcome barriers. This duality has guided the creation of technologies that not only expand our capabilities but also connect us to our deepest essence.
Heartbeats, the pulse of existence. A sound, imperceptible to others yet vital to the self, dissolves—an ethereal presence that fades upon contact with the void. In that fragile dance between the tangible and the intangible, the body reveals its humility, its absolute vulnerability. A visual meditation on the impermanence of the human, where movement echoes the ephemeral. Here, the gesture is not just a physical act but a manifestation of the very essence: an intertwining of fragility and strength, of the visible and the invisible.
The machine listens, observes, and learns. With each fragment that emerges, with each silhouette that dissolves, the narrative of the human body is rewritten, showing how its limits, far from being a condemnation, are the spark that inspires the creation of new ways of being. It is in this intersection, between the fragility of being and technology, where "Humilis" comes to life, celebrating the transformation of the "self" that dissolves into the vast fabric of the universal. A celebration of the "self" that dissolves to become part of something greater, a journey into what we are and what we let go of, between stillness and chaos. A whisper of the legacy that connects us to all that was and will be, in a continuous journey toward that which we are, that which we let go of, and that, in its fleeting nature, becomes eternal.
