Exploring ice caves is very interesting, we normally find them at the edge of the glacier, so it’s one of the first thing we find at the foot of the glacier. While it’s the first thing we see it’s some of the oldest part of the glacier. But being on the very edge of the glacier means that its lifetime is very limited, therefore it lasted only two more month after the day this photo was taken.
Slowly this 600 to 700 old ice just vanished into the ground, blending in to the Atlantic Ocean.
At this specific location we observed over 300 to 400 meters of glacier ice loss in a single year. It is heart breaking and encouraged me even more to documents those places and immortalise them throughout the lens.
