"Port Arrival" features a woman standing as a beacon for onlookers, a central and militant figure amidst a crowd of uniforms.
The presence of an iconic figure and the mixing of races among the photos subjects, serves to underscore the universality of resistance, courage, and individuality.
The old film-still aesthetic further heightens the sense of drama, casting the scene as a moment frozen in time, a frame captured from a forgotten film reel of an alternate reality.
