Fede Bona – 19yo Artist based in Argentina. Spontaneous and conceptual representations of everything that’s related with me somehow.
What’s special about being GenZ? How it relates to your art?
From my perspective, being GenZ is related with technology and witnessing changes, but compared to previous generations changes that are happening today are x2 or x3 times faster (in a majority of the fields), and we are witnessing them very young, in my case I am 19, I am entering the ” adults world “and when I see how my parents lived this age of going to college, pay a rent, etc. I can see some eases that I have and they didn’t, just because I born in 2001.
And in my art this might be seen with my progress using tools, in general GenZ has more facility with technology, techniques and tools and this can be seen in a lot of young digital and non digital artists work.

What’s special about being an artist in this generation? What’s the role of artists in today’s world?
What I like of GenZ artists is the diversity of styles and techniques, from digital to traditional art.
There’s a difference between a 16yo artist and a +30yo artist that it’s hard to explain with words but when you see a GenZ work you have a feeling of youngness and I think that this is very special and something that identify this generation.
In my opinion the role of an artist it’s set by themselves, that’s the great thing about art, it’s not something structured, you can make whatever you want with so many different intentions that I think that you can’t really say that there’s an specific role for art nowadays.
You can install a doubt or a controversy, criticize politics, criticize the society, be abstract, be conceptual, be figurative, use minimalism to represent something complex or vice versa, share your view of an specific topic etc…
(For Gen Z most of the times art has this plus of being so young that might cause extra impact on the spectator.)

What does art mean to you? Why you become an artist?
I like the idea of just making and sharing my art, and let the people interpretate it.
For me, art is a way of expression, and in my works 90% of the times I represent feelings that I have in that exact moment, this spontaneity it’s what I like about my works, I don’t like rushing art.
And the main reason I became an artist it’s simply because it’s the only thing I really love and enjoy doing, since I was 6 I could spend hours and hours drawing, when I was 8 I was making stop motion movies with legos and an old camera of my parents. I don’t see myself in a future doing anything else that it’s not related with art in a way.
Your goals for the future? What kind of artist you want to be? What do you want to achieve/express through your art?
My main goal for near future it’s to experiment, innovate, learn new softwares and with this develop an style that is gonna be MY style, I want people to see one of my works and in 1sec know that that’s made by me, that’s something I want to achieve at the end of this year.
Another goal that I have in a few years is to move to another country, I need to live in a city with a totally different air and where the society appreciates art and see it in a different compared to Argentina, I feel kinda limitated by that and I think that where you live makes has a big impact in your art, I would like to know new people, a new culture, new artists.
I want to be a recognized artist due to my art career. And my most ambitious dream is in a future achieve something similar to “Kaws”.

Where do you think you are at in your life?
I’m in very strange moment of my life. Some days I don’t want to do anything, some days I’m very excited and inspired. Sometimes I doubt if I can make a living out of my art and the next week I feel like that’s never gonna be a problem. My mood it’s very volatile right now and I think that it’s related to what’s happening with covid, the quarantine and being locked because I’ve never experienced something similar before, or this is a common thing when you are 19? Idk.
Which artists in the history are your role models?
I like some works of historic artists like Dalí, Miró, Warhol, but I don’t have them as a role model because most of them are contemporaries, for example Brian Donnelly / “Kaws” as I mentioned is an artist that I really admire, Dusty Ray, marta minujin. I also like streetwear and fashion a lot, so I could say that some artists/designers like Tyler the Creator or Virgil Abloh inspires me with their aesthetic.
How to be a successful GenZ artist?
Would love to know that. This question it’s subjetive but I guess that it’s a matter of stick to your plan or be yourself and always share what you consider good and true to your art, make art and share art and if you do it with passion, you’ll be noticed and you will receive the recognition that you deserve. At least that’s what I understand as succes but it depends on each artist.

Technically define GenZ artists
GenZ Artists as I mentioned are very related with technology, we are surrounded of tutorials, online courses, different ways of learning and because of this we understand technology in a different way compared to older generations
I’m not related to traditional techniques but maybe this theory that I have of a very vertical learning curve applys too.
What do you think of the established traditional fine art world/market VS. Cryptoart world? Which one do you prefer? How do you imagine the future of cryptoart would be?
I don’t have experience with traditional art market so I don’t have a solid point of view of it but I really like this futuristic way of selling art that cryptoart brings to the world, it’s something that right now it’s not very stable, sometimes looks like something that could last a few months and disappear but I see it like something that it’s just starting and will last for a very long time, I keep more this second view, besides of being more positive and what we all want, as the cryptoart it’s related to cryptocurrency there’s much possibility of success.
