What’s special about being GenZ? How it relates to your art?
Most of us had one of those terrible flip phones, had to wait for our favorite cartoon show to start instead of searching for it on Netflix. We basically witnessed the era where everything turned digital. And that’s what I think is the most special, we did not only grow up with technology, but we know the impact it had on our childhoods and society as a whole. That way we are able to not only appreciate the beauty in digital ventures, but also the rawness of a paper collage. The best of both worlds.
What’s special about being an artist in this generation? What’s the role of artists in today’s world?
Being able to see the overtake of technology and the internet is definitely the main trait of my generation. Our parents played with other kids outside in their childhood, and our kids will have a Playstation 8 before they can even speak. So being able to participate in both of those opposite environments truly gives us a different sense of the world. The art is influenced by cartoons and pop music, but in the meantime we still got so much access to knowledge on politics and ideology online. I’d say that art is evolving faster than it ever did, in the messiest and most beautiful way possible. We are changing the world, even though it doesn’t feel like it behind a computer screen.
Finale
Edition 1 of 1
Expect a grand finale.
What does art mean to you? Why you become an artist?
Art is expression, no matter which way you express yourself, as long as you’re doing it, you’re an artist. I believe that I have always been an artist, from singing in the shower to drawing on my school desk, it all adds up to what I am today. I might even say that we are all artists in some way or another, being able to discover and share your true self is the purest form of art there is in my point of view.
Your goals for the future? What kind of artists you want to be? What do you want to achieve/express through your art?
Even though I believe my answer to this question will change in a year, or a week, for the moment I really wanna tap into different markets and cultures of art. Crypto is my latest venture and I have just started, so I am sure there’s a lot of different paths I can take within it. I really want to take some time off trying to gain status as an artist and travel around the world, absorb experience and knowledge from different cultures. The curiosity is what moves me, I am constantly looking for newness, there’s no reason to stick to a plan when everything could change so fast.

Where do you think you are at in your life (struggles & growth)?
This year has enlightened me in all sorts of ways, from overcoming depression, drug vices, money problems and traumas. I spent the last 3 years living in London, away from my family in Brazil, and in this period I had a lot of transformations, I had to become fully independent, work hard of making my art pay off and at the same time deal with my hormonal changes. I did not deal with it in a good way for most of the time, made some bad decisions, but I believe that all of that gave me enough experience to make the right choices in the future. Now that I am back in Brazil, I feel more satisfied personally, while there’s still parts of my life that I plan on changing, I believe I am taking the right path this time.
Which artists in the history are your role models?
I’ve gone through different phases since I started taking more interest in the history of art, and since I never went to art school, my references are very personal, but I will name a few, along with the reasons why it inspires me.
First is Pablo Picasso, who really inspired me artistically back when I was learning cubism. And also as a person, Picasso had a lot of unhealthy love relationships, which makes me relate to him in other ways too. I still use Picasso’s references on my artwork a lot of times, specially from his book “The Picasso Papers”, which I read this year. Below is some of my digital cubism work (both self portraits):
Another huge inspiration I have lately is Salvador Dali. It fascinates me how he is able to express strong metaphors by using such mundane elements and scenarios. It has really inspired me into doing the same lately and has helped me create some of my best works. Below are some examples:

How to be a successful GenZ artist?
The usage of technology is our main trait, as I mentioned before, so we gotta take the most advantage of it as possible. Being aware of the new advances in the field of digital art and using the right platforms to share your work is really important.
Technically define GenZ artists (like what tools are you using?)
As an artist that shares work on social media, you need to keep in mind that your work really needs to give a good first impression, the attention spam of people online isn’t the best so the usage of familiar elements and colors is really valuable. Simple is the way to go.
What do you think of the established traditional fine art world/market VS. cryptoart world? Which one do you prefer? How do you imagine the future of cryptoart would be?
I always envied my traditional fine art peers, not only because I look up to them artistically, but also because they have bigger chances of being exhibited in galleries and museums, and that’s been one of my biggest dreams so far. So this new market of crypto art really made me see art in a whole different perspective. I expect this industry to only grow from now on, and at some point overtake the physical galleries. I still have deep respect for traditional art and is still my favorite art style, even though I don’t practice it too much, and I think that it is really important to not forget the origins of art.
