In Titan’s Light
Edition 1 of 1
This audiovisual collaboration between Sutu and deadmau5 imagines a new frontier. Inspired by the deadmau5 track, SATRN, the artwork is set at a space station on the Titan moon. This collaboration was born during the creation of the RAREZ Series 1 NFTs with emanate.live

Sutu shook the NFT community with his groundbreaking genesis drop with popular EDM artist Deadmau5. He’s returned for his second drop with a message from the future. In his new work Future Historians he explores a more nuanced, narrative-driven approach starting with an imagination anchored in the future, creating one striking moment to teleport you to an experience where you’re both the custodian and the historian. The alien landscape is an invitation to synthesize realities we only have access to through the art. This is what fascinates us about Sutu’s work; his ability to transfer new experiences across the void.

Future Historians is a triptych exploring perceptions of reality at a time when our natural world is experiencing unprecedented decline while our virtual worlds proliferate. There is an ongoing trend in the digital arts industry to create a simulacrum of our physical world by fabricating massive databases of off-the-shelf flora and fauna, physical artefacts (including digital garbage), and then replicating our laws of nature via complex physics engines. The holy grail is to pass a visual turing test, where the virtual simulations are unparalleled to our physical world. Future Historians combines Sutu’s own 3d models with 3d stock assets and various animation FX to present a series of glitched-out virtual worlds that fall short of the physical realities they’re trying to mimic. This is an important body of work marked by the artistic excellence of long-time collaborators Sutu and Tobacco Rat. Previously Tobacco Rat composed the soundtracks for Sutu’s award winning VR films; Heart of Darkness, Future Dreaming, The Girl and The Crane (winner of the LA film awards Best VR Film). Each artwork in the three part series will be dropped one after the other, with the first auction beginning, today, Jan 28.

Stand outside of time.
Watch a world fall
Reach in and grab the falling
No hand is big enough.
