Alberto Carbonell is a Spanish 3D Artist based in Valencia.

Alberto has worked as an Art Director for brands like Instagram, Nike, Google, Microsoft, WordPress, or Huawei, and he has also collaborated with plenty of renowned studios.

He has been influenced by architecture, product design, photography, cinema, and many more arts that helped to grow a unique visual style. Nowadays, he is working from his home city as an Artist and Director, combining commercial and artistic projects.

Alberto gets inspiration from daily life, nature, or memories. Also, one of the things that Alberto loves most is to travel, as a way for inspiration. Different cities and countries have been showcased in his artworks, but there are two that influenced the most: his own city, Valencia and Tokyo.

Valencia is described by itself as a really inspiring city. It’s near the sea, combines modern and traditional city with a rich combination of architectural styles, and mesmerizing natural surroundings. We can showcase two of the projects inspired by his city: Espai Verd and L’Albufera.

These two projects were born in 2020. “Espai Verd” is a project based on Architecture. From his childhood house, he could always see a big white building filled with plants and he always dreamed of how that building could be. This artwork is the answer to that child’s question.

L’Albufera is a realistic project based on nature. Near the city, there is a lake with the same name. This is a really important and traditional place for the people in Valencia, as it is the heart of our culture and city. The authenticity of this place is reflected in this series, where we can see little boats, autochthonous birds, and wild plants.

On the other side of the world, he discovered some years ago a wild, huge and crazy city. From the first moment, he loved everything about Tokyo.

He describes Tokyo as a city of infinite inspiration. Architecture, nature, food, and cultural differences made this city so interesting for him. Inspired by Tokyo and its surroundings, he made a couple of series that deserve to be showcased: Japanese Explorations & Paradise.

Japanese

Japanese explorations were born from sketches, memories, and livings, mixed in an empty canvas with the only rule of expressing his feelings there. This series will be never finished, as it will always be updated with inputs from new trips and memories.

The other featured series, “Paradise” was born to showcase the beautiful coexistence between concrete jungles and wild nature, as we can see all around Japan. He believes that architecture and nature must co-exist as one.

His latest series is called “(De)Constructing Calder” and is one of his most personal series.

This series is inspired by Alexander Calder’s Mobiles. He remembers walking through big galleries as a child, accompanied by his family, and being impressed by the huge Mobiles from Calder. This was the first moment he realized what is art. This project consists of 4 artworks, two animated and two still frames.

The two first artworks “Constructing Calder #1 & #2” are based on shapes and spaces. These two are animated with a subtle movement, remembering those mobiles and transmitting peace and calm.

In the other two artworks “(De)Constructing Calder #1 & #2”, those mobiles have been moved to oniric landscapes, in a nameless place. In these, sizes and places have been exaggerated, looking for a place to inspire tranquility and where to find answers to real questions.

Alberto is here to fill a place on the scene, with a clear background of design and art direction, focused on developing new projects.
