The Neocons
Android Plaza — The Neocons
Two figures sit across from one another in quiet comfort, the posture of men accustomed to deciding the fate of places they will never see. Their chairs are soft, their gestures calm, their conversation measured. Between them hangs the world.
The map glows like a jewel — continents sparkling with points of color, a decorative abstraction of human life reduced to strategy. From this distance the earth appears manageable, almost elegant. Borders become lines to be redrawn, regions become theatres, entire nations become problems awaiting solutions.
Yet the image refuses to remain stable.
Faces smear and dissolve into painterly fractures, bodies bleed into the upholstery, the polished room trembles with digital corrosion. The portrait begins to decay even as it forms, as though the surface itself cannot maintain the fiction of rational control.
This is the language of postpainting — where the artist moves between brushstroke and machine interference, allowing algorithmic distortion and painterly gesture to coexist. The image becomes unstable by design, revealing the hidden fractures beneath the spectacle of authority.
In this work the calm choreography of diplomacy collides with the silent violence embedded within it. War does not appear as spectacle here, but as conversation — decisions made comfortably, continents contemplated like objects on a table.
The world behind them sparkles with possibility.
And with consequence.
The painting captures a peculiar psychology of power: the belief that history can be arranged from a chair, that the fate of millions can be discussed like policy over polite dialogue.
But the surface of the image tells another story.
Control flickers.
The portrait glitches.
The map shines too brightly.
And somewhere beyond the room, the world they are discussing continues to burn.
