Data art from Ethereum block 4321454 (The start of the Terraform Event). A collaboration between generative artist HEX0x6C (digital layer coded in Processing) and visual artist Chiara Braidotti (hand drawing on top of) for a (forthcoming) Virtual Reality museum telling the history of Ethereum through art.
The Terraform is when it was possible for anyone to become virtual landlords. Decentraland is a grid of 300x300 where the owner of each parcel gets to decide what goes on it. The terraform was the period during which bid could be placed to own any of these 90,000 parcels. There was a period during which people could lock their MANA (an ERC-20 token) and that would let them bid on parcels up to that amount. The tokens obtained from Terraform are NFTs just like SuperRare, but they have the added ability of letting you define the content at a specific location in a VR world. A whopping 161,483,050 MANA (roughly $10m) was spent in what became the largest ever virtual land sale.
Snow Crash coming to reality.
