Data art from Ethereum block 0 (The Genesis). A collaboration between generative artist HEX0x6C (digital layer coded in Processing) and visual artist Chiara Braidotti (hand drawing on top of) for a (forthcoming) Virtual Reality museum telling the history of Ethereum through art.
A genesis block is the first block of a blockchain. It represents the initialization of the system. The Ethereum Genesis block is one-of-a-kind: it contains 8893 transactions but has used no gas, it was created 15 seconds before the Ethereum Frontier block #1, but it has no miner. More importantly, its nonce is 0x42!
