this artwork explores the many hands that can become part of raising a child: parents, grandparents, family, childcare workers, teachers, and other caretakers. the work is not a criticism of asking for help or building a village around a child. instead, it considers the distinction between receiving support and continually handing off the responsibility of being present.
the repeated gesture of passing the child from one set of hands to another becomes a metaphor for what happens when caregiving is treated as something to be transferred rather than something to participate in.
process: the base image was created with my personalized Midjourney v8.2 model in September 2026. The animation, glitch effects, and distortions were manually added using RIBT//Labs.
