Creating this piece during my recent art workshop (Preserving Legacies - Creative Futures: Material Memory, Fabric, Pattern & Collage workshop) organised by New Africa Cultural Initiative, brought back a wave of memories from my university days. Back then, I was driven by a single-minded determination to succeed as an artist - a journey that required sacrifices at every stage. Looking back, I am so grateful that those sacrifices paid off. This artwork stands as a reminder to stay grounded, keep honing my craft, and push forward through every challenge with total confidence.
