In the underground of a Tokyo rebuilt by corporations, a solitary figure watches the reflection of neon lights on cracked glass. Her name is Sai, one of the last humans, born before the full integration with the Central System.
She was designed to watch, but she learned to doubt.
In streets ruled by algorithmic surveillance, emotion is an error and error means punishment, but Sai carries a defect impossible to erase: human memories. Fragments of a real childhood, the sound of rain, the touch of someone who no longer exists.
Amid corporate propaganda and promises of “digital freedom,” she discovers the true cost of safety: the surrender of the soul.
Now hunted by her own people, Sai becomes a symbol of silent resistance, an emotional insurgent in a world numbed by data.
“To feel, I had to betray my world.
To live, I had to reject perfection.”
The work represents the duality between autonomy and control, emotion and system, humanity and machine, central themes of the Automata series, which questions how far we can go before emotion becomes a programming error
