An offering to the natural world, “Hymn” is a visual song, a devotional moment. Inspired by walking the rim of Bryce Canyon at dawn, the work centers on a small, gnarled Bristlecone pine standing before distant hoodoo spires. It is a pause, a breath, and a gesture of gratitude for the resilience of life and the mystery of what lies hidden in the dark places beneath the roots.
* Part of the "Revival" series, inspired by the ancient terrain of Bryce Canyon National Park and themes of ecological survival and renewal. The work grew from memories of hiking its trails while pregnant with my second child, during a time of uncertainty about her growth. There among the amphitheaters, I witnessed weathered trees clinging to bare cliffs and stone, defying the arid terrain. Their resilience became a source of hope for the Earth and my children.
