Maggie wanted to buy one of my paintings for her new house. We hadn't met in person yet. I had seen her before through the cinema screen and she knew my work from instagram.
I went to her house, she showed me the wall she wanted to put my work on, over a cup of tea she had brought from her last trip to London.
We immediately connected. We both had a background in music. I told her that I was planning to shoot a music video.
She asked me to listen to the song. When it finished playing she said: I want to be in the music video!
I couldn't believe it, I was so grateful that I would paint the picture for his living room in return. We were both very happy with the exchange.
I needed another actress for the video. This time I left it in the hands of the production company. They showed me a small sample of Milena's work and I thought it was amazing, she is so talented.
She hadn't made a film yet but I could definitely sense that she had a promising career. So much so that a year later she starred in Almodóvar's film "Madres Paralelas". An achievement that she undoubtedly deserved.
During the filming you could feel the magic that they were creating. Watching them perform was incredible, the chemistry was all over the studio.
I can't explain what it feels like to see two such tremendously talented actresses performing in front of the camera up close. It's something so special that I couldn't do it with words alone, that's why I decided to paint it. I hope it conveys that unique energy that I felt when I saw it.
