Barker Hut

This is Barker Hut. Located Deep in Arthur’s pass National Park in the most beautiful surroundings. This was not an easy one to get to! It is a long two day hike through unmarked terrain with about 20 river crossings. I find myself so much more excited to create artwork from my adventures when the journey to get there is challenging. Typical of New Zealand alpine huts this one is also perched in the most spectacular position on a rocky outcrop looking down the White River. I stayed here on the 31st December 2022 and it was the most perfect place to welcome in the new year. I wanted this to be my first piece of 2023! I absolutely love this piece and it came together so naturally.
