Colin Todd Hut

One of the most well-loved climber’s huts in New Zealand, this cosy little red alpine refuge from the weather is perched right at the base of the classic north west ridge of Mount Aspiring. The New Zealand hut network is so unique. Some of these huts have a rich history, dating back to the early exploration of New Zealand's wilderness. They provide a tangible link to the country's pioneering past and the resilience of those who ventured into the rugged alpine terrain. These alpine huts are my favourite subject.
