It embodies my personal journey of self growth, self acceptance and self love that spanned over a period of 8 months during 2021. It all began with a heroic dose of psilocybin that I’ve consumed in an effort to better understand myself. What I experienced was a complete unraveling of my psyche and my reality. I was able to experience myself for the first time without the construct of this entity called Boris, but simply experience what I am at my core. As I came back to reality, this experience allowed me to question how I feel about my reality. First realization, which I knew for quite some time, was that I was unhappy and unfulfilled in my romantic partnership. I knew it had to end. What followed was a very painful process of severing my attachment to another human being. But what I learned in the process is more than I could have asked for. For months, instead of creating art I sat with my feelings, with my pain, I read books on psychology, breakups, attachment styles, healing, did more psilocybin, found an incredible therapist, made new friends, traveled, experienced new things, and reflected on all of it. It was really hard to face the fact that I selected partners who were like my parents, emotionally unavailable. Once I was unraveled and looking at all of my different human attachments, I found myself in a position where it was very clear that I had to build a secure attachment with myself through self forgiveness, love, compassion, patience and full acceptance of who I am. It was one of the more painful experiences I've had, but as my old childhood wounds began to heal, I felt an immense amount of gratitude for who I am and who I have become as an adult. The pain of unraveling was worth the discovery of my authentic self.
