Tranquility

It was a dream to take a solo trip up the California coast and photograph where I wanted for as long as I wanted. I spent a couple of hours here and was amazed that the crowds thinned out for a solid half hour before sunset. I was with only one other photographer as we both continuously clicked away at various speeds of long exposure of the falls and waves. I didn't know I would find such peace and calm at such an iconic spot, but I absolutely did. This is a more intimate perspective of the iconic McWay Falls in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park. When I see a scene like this that has been photographed over and over, I try and put my own perspective on it to come away with something unique and personal to me. I tend to create images of popular places using my telephoto lens which allows me to zoom in on exactly what I am want to capture. In this instance, it was the sun setting against the rocks, McWay Falls, and the color and movement of the turquoise water.
