Fleeting Grace

She moves silently across the field, red against the muted greens, a passing grace through open meadow. Her steps are light, yet carried by purpose, eyes always forward, ears turned toward the unseen. The world reminds her of the danger, humans, dogs, the restless edges of another life. Still, she does not falter. Her path is drawn by instinct deeper than fear, pulled by the quiet urgency of hunger and home. Somewhere nearby, her kits tumble and squeal, small sparks of movement in the tall grass. She holds them in her awareness, even at a distance, even as she runs. She does not linger. She cannot. To move is to protect, to search is to love. This is her grace, brief, untamed, and wholly devoted to the survival of what comes next.
