High up in the mountains of Southwestern Colorado lies a peak knows as "Dragons Back". There isn't a trail here, just an incredibly technical road followed by a 5 mile route finding mission through the wilderness. As you crest this hill, the journey becomes worth it... the peak is more dramatic than you could've imagined, the lake at the bottom is perfectly serene, and the campsite for your tents is this lovely patch of grass on the hillside. Arriving here in the middle of summer meant the hillside was covered in yellow flowers... an alpine rarity but for a few weeks each summer these high elevation slopes come to life. Sunset light here proved to be absolutely staggering, with the peak catching this unreal yellow and orange light coming up through the valley. Truly one of the best views I've encountered during my time in the mountains.
