Skatin’ at Empire Roller Disco, 1979

The Empire Roller Disco is known as the birthplace of roller disco. Once a parking lot in Brooklyn, NY the place evolved over the years from a roller rink complete with organ to a state of the art 20,000 watts sound system featuring live DJs. This disco was full of sweat and competition and was always a great place to photograph. 10% of proceeds from this NFT sale will benefit the incredible Lens On Life Project. Lens is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization, supporting photography and computer literacy training for at-risk youth around the world. By cooperating with host organizations, we build spaces to help students overcome trauma, grow artistically and gain skills to enter the global marketplace
