This painting of a muscular man is notable for its introduction of a more vivid color (red was likely an intentional choice) and marking the first time that Chester appeared to paint something more personal. The inscription in the back implies a level of closeness, the pose indicates a certain familiarity, and the color marks a certain intensity. Inscription (from reverse): …a torrid evening, i [sic] apologized by painting him. We have put things behind us.
