Partial Equilibrium
Edition 1 of 1

‘Partial Equilibrium’ is a digital readymade which appropriates, interrogates and recontextualizes the first American readymade: Jeff Koons’ ‘One Ball Total Equilibrium Tank’. Created in 1985, the work immortalized the Spaulding basketball, floating suspended in an aquarium, as a symbol of opportunity and prosperity. Brambilla’s ‘Partial Equilibrium’ confronts viewers with the dismantling of Koons’ art object and makes way for a new one. Known as a creature in both Norse and Greek mythology as a symbol of destruction, an Octopus appears to overtake the original structure entirely, disrupting the basketball’s delicate state of equilibrium within the aquarium. Methuselah
Edition 1 of 1

This work was inspired by the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest of California’s Eastern Sierra. Some trees here are as old as the pyramids but are left unmarked, so it is left up to the imagination to wonder. This pillar of time clings to the side of a slope, growing slowly, battered and twisted by its extreme conditions. Artwork by Rachael Pease. Music by David Voyzey.

Once We Were One
Edition 1 of 1

Behold! Behold! This is the Land of Yore! A place and time for joy and laughter, where no one is nobody’s master. The broken Land of Dreams Aplenty when foes were none and friends were many. Long before the Old War started, magic was by people guarded. Long before the first was bitten, laws of land were still unwritten. Trees and streams were wise and awesome, and giant’s sharts meant life and blossom. But then They came and all was ruined: the selfish ones with their tongues so fluent: “You shall not bite! Only I can chew! My body will never return to you! Now give me, give me, and don’t ask back, you are a beast therefore you lack: you lack my brains and my altura, for your condition there is no cura”. Behold! Behold! The peace we used to live in! Now only pieces do remain, of this land with no domain. Waters red from pain and sorrow: that I’ll tell you all tomorrow.

2021
Edition 1 of 1

An animated pixel piece. Since the end of 2014, Genuine Human Art has been creating a piece to ring in the new year. Each piece marks a moment in time, a feeling as we head into a new beginning. They have become his biggest and most adventurous pieces of each year, growing in scope with each new piece. Work on this 2021 piece began at the start of November 2020 and was completed shortly before new year’s eve having taken more than 100 hours of work. Created during a pandemic year, the approach for 2021 was one of a wish – an expression of hope that 2021 might bring us health, joy, freedom and love. Drenched in colour, it aims to make the viewer smile as they take in the details and pick out the stories contained within. Every pixel has hope at its core.

Artist and filmmaker Lynn Hershman Leeson (b.1941) is one of the most influential media artists. She is widely recognized for her work investigating key issues including the relationship between humans and technology, identity, surveillance, and the use of media as a tool of empowerment against censorship. Leeson’s works are public collections around the world including the MoMA, LACMA, ZKM, SFMOMA and Tate Modern. Her first solo museum show in NYC opens June 30 at the New Museum.

The Redeeming Gift of Humanity
Edition 1 of 1

The full title of the work is ‘The Redeeming Gift of Humanity is that Each Generation Recreates Itself’. Tilda Swinton, playing Ada Lovelace in Lynn Hershman Leeson’s film Conceiving Ada, 1995, predicts on her deathbed that humans would recreate themselves in the future. Ada Lovelace was a mathematician who wrote the very first computer program in the nineteenth century. Although the film was made nearly 30 years ago, what she says is crucial to the idea of NFTs. Each generation does recreate itself, one way or another. This one has seen AI and NFTs (and DNA) become a new language for storage and communication. Artist and filmmaker Lynn Hershman Leeson is recognized for her work investigating key issues including the relationship between humans and technology, identity, surveillance, and the use of media as a tool of empowerment against censorship. Heartbeats of a Flower
Edition 1 of 1

If machines could think, what would they think of plants? Would they see them as inanimate objects or as living beings? ‘Heartbeats of a Flower’ is imagined as the perception of plants through the eyes of a machine. It was created using a neural network that was encouraged to generate vibrant images of plants. The images were brought to life by the artist’s creative use of algorithms. Displaced
Edition 1 of 1

An apocalyptic scenario manifests itself in front of the viewer of a slender figure at the center of the scene in the work of Nicola Scognamiglio. A pulsating light connects the man to an uninhabited skyscraper that can be glimpsed at in the distance, as if to recall redundant forms of life that are now extinct. Reality and illusion are confused, as if the difference between our virtual alter ego and the materiality of the surrounding degradation had never existed. ///Dystopian Visions Curated NFT collection by Serena Tabacchi (MoCDA) Auctioned by CAMBI + SuperRare

Una cornice dorata racchiude l’evoluzione dell’espressione artistica secondo la visione dell’artista Luca Viola. L’opera si espande, andando verso chi la osserva. What kind of existence would we live if we knew that the world was created by an artificial entity? In Dentico’s work one can see tiny well-dressed men plunging into the void. Our Peaceful Blue Orientalis
Edition 1 of 1

‘Our Peaceful Blue Orientalis’ (Onze Vredige Blauwe Orientalis) is one of three pieces from Claire Droppert and CP Collectives’ genesis NFT collection, ‘GRAVITY FLOWER POWER’. This exciting release marks the third and final original artwork that compels the viewer to reflect on the power and beauty of nature while celebrating Dutch national heritage. The third and final artwork in this series is again a composition of images that were captured in the west region of the Netherlands, an incredible location for discovering bold and beautiful flowers. For Dutch people, Blue, the colour of Dutch Orientalis Hyacinths, has a strong symbolic association to physical beauty like the sky and the sea to emotions like trust and freedom. This flower completes the trilogy of works by representing the final colour on the Dutch national flag. Blue Orientalis Hyacinths are symbolic of sorrow, forgiveness, and spirituality. Therefore, this final work encourages viewers to reflect on the beauty of life around them and to have gratitude for everything that friends, family, and their ancestors have done for them. This animated piece was created in collaboration with CP Collectives, a pioneering community-driven project focused on finding new and innovative ways to transcend the current limitations of digital art and photography. CP Collectives is partnering with some of the world’s leading digital artists and photographers to release an exclusive series of NFTs that celebrate the true ingenuity and imagination of both communities across a wide range of different releases.

Janne, the German based artist knew from his first foray into the cryptoart world that it was going to be big. He went in head first, and has never looked back. The space was the only space where there were no bars, there were no limitations, there was only room for creation in a big way. Embark on your own journey, create, do what you love and simply, just do it!

“The certain is an illusion. I like the uncertain.”

The theme of the circle is a thing that every now and then appears in my artistic path, and this is the first time that I’ve decided to experiment it in my “rubberstamp” technique and in a color combination that you don’t find often in my other pieces. This is my very first animated rubberstamped piece of 2021. The whole system that I’ve used to create this artwork is made by me, from the stamps to the sheets and in the final stage the digitalization. One more time, from analog to digital.

Osinachi, the West African artist is one of the first successful digital artists from the African continent. His works serve as a beacon to many artists beginning their foray into digital art in Africa and internationally. Osinachi is deliberate, focused, often using his voice to speak on themes of diversity with a refusal to compromise his authenticity in his creations.

The present work features in “Bonhams & SuperRare: CryptOGs, The Pioneers of NFT Art, June 21st-30th 2021”, Lot 5” and can be found HERE

Dystopian Visions: celebrating the Italian crypto Renaissance

SuperRare

Dystopian Visions is a curated NFT digital art collection bridging the cap between traditional art institutions and digitally native pioneers.

The recent months have seen an emergence of hybrid structures that attempt at capturing the crypto zeitgeist in the habitually conservative contemporary art landscape. The art institutions of all sorts, be it auction houses, museums, blue-chip galleries, have tried to set foot in previously unexplored terrain.

We have seen the wave of institutional recognition & adoption for crypto art, with even the most conservative gatekeepers of the contemporary art community, such as art critics and curators, starting to experiment with NFTs of their own – an example of which being the meta-artwork by Kenny Schachter and Jerry Salz.

At the core of any art movement that is later on recognized by the art world’s “vetting” figures, has always been an integral community of artists sharing a unique creative vision, along with collectors disposing of discretionary income willing to support that vision andcurators or other enlightened intermediaries taking on the role of putting the artists’ vision into a cohesive and solid statement.

Indeed, the emergence of community-based movements is at the core of art history as we know it – take Paris in the early 1900s or Italy in the 1400s – and the Italian crypto art landscape today is no different: with ever increasing interconnectivity and ethereal communications, these artists have witnessed a newfound “renaissance” happen in the digital art realm over the past months. In Italy, one of the first countries to adopt the severe lockdown measures as of early 2020, the artists have found themselves in a position to investigate their practice and make artwork using digital media while in continuous mutual confrontation with their peer creators online.

A crucial part of any type of artwork on its way to recognition is exhibition and establishing the curatorial fondamenta. Exhibitions are where the public and the gatekeepers alike get to access and evaluate the work for what it is. Following this pattern, the crypto art world has adopted digitally native tools, such as virtual world galleries, as well as showing crypto artwork in the physical settings – we have seen examples emerge as early as 2019, following up with a recent blockbuster show ‘Breadcrumbs’ by Kenny Schachter at Nagel Draxler Gallery in Germany.

“Dystopian visions”, was conceived as an attempt to further bridge the gap between the traditional institutions and the digital art pioneers, by adopting the hybrid exhibition model, hosting a physical show at CAMBI headquarters from June 24th to June 26th,  while also having the works on show in the Arium metaverse.

Emergence of the new digitally native art institutions and gate-keepers like MoCDA (Museum of Contemporary Digital Art) and auction houses like Cambi opening up digital art departments  – are all a clear sign of a larger movement taking place that can no longer be ignored.

In ”Dystopian visions”, the Italian crypto artists are capturing the zeitgeist of the human condition with its backbone ever more reliant on digitized communications and technological advancements. Imagining utopian landscapes like their predecessors envisioned the perfectly aligned “città ideali” (eng. ‘ideal cities’) in the 1400s, artists are contributing to the evolution of the classical concepts from a futuristic perspective. “Dystopian visions” is building bridges not only between the physical and the digital, traditional and innovative but also underlining the continuity of human-centric creative concepts in the ever-evolving perception of the anthropocene.

Vini Ini Naso & Love Hultén Explore Intimacy and Memory in the Digital World

SuperRare

Together, Vini Naso and Love Hultén bring a digital moment into a tactile medium with the Dissrup NFT visualiser. In doing so, they unite ephemerality and perpetuity; a seemingly paradoxical state that is actually rather commonplace under another name: memory.

The Dissrup NFT Visualiser 1.0 by Love Hulten showcases artwork by Vini Naso, 2021.

The pair introduce the world to the possibilities of phygital artwork with their NFT visualiser, which takes intricate analogue technology, and fuses it with cutting edge 3D design to create a one-of-a-kind installation. The visualiser features new artwork, I Miss You, designed by Vini Naso to respond to the possibilities of a new medium.

I Miss You freezes a single instant: an embrace between two people, revealing its intimate details to us in exquisite detail. The piece uses classic iconography—we can’t help but think of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden—coating it in the artist’s signature pastel foliage to create a digital rendition of a multi-tiered, halcyon world that feels both ancient and futuristic. The Dissrup NFT Visualiser 1.0 by Love Hulten showcases artwork by Vini Naso, 2021.

We begin our journey into this space up-close, exploring the undulating landscape of what is revealed to be two bodies intertwined in a stolen moment of refuge from the passage of time. As the clip unfolds, we gradually move further away, allowing the bigger picture to take form. Finally, we see the statuesque couple, caught in a spiraling embrace, hovering over a serene body of water. They float in isolation, and as they linger in the air, we are able to take a brief moment to survey their pristine environment, before we are taken back into the miniature intricacy of their floral bodies.

Still from I Miss You, 2021.

I Miss You captures the essence of those perfect moments that are all too fleeting. Vini is able to petrify this transitory intimacy with a faithful clarity that stokes the envy of a nostalgic mind; we yearn for these moments in full definition, and with I Miss You we get exactly that. A memory is immortalized for us in crystal-clear detail, to be viewed indefinitely.

Still from I Miss You, 2021.

Love Hultén is able to bring this impossible frozen moment into the real world, offering us a uniquely tactile vessel for the intangible. Buttons and a dial afford us godlike control over the event: we are able to cycle between individual frames of it, or even freeze it as a still image. With I Miss You the NFT becomes a means of connecting with the artists and their work on a deeper level. We manipulate their art with our own hands, we watch it react to our gesture, we affect the way it unfolds. This is an incredibly powerful thing, bringing us in intimate proximity to the artists’ through a completely new medium.

Two buttons and a central dial allow control of the artwork.

Within the world of Vini Naso and Love Hulten’s artwork, the fuzzy vagaries of memory are made clear. Just as the digital camera gave us the power to freeze moments and claim them for ourselves, perhaps the NFT in its phygital form is a taste of an even greater power to salvage the treasured details of moments in the past.

I Miss You is a tribute to the nostalgia we all experience when we reflect on treasured memories and the people we share them with—it is a timeless souvenir from a place we have all visited.

Stories of an agreement: Milton Sanz writes about his piece, The Homeland of the spirit

SuperRare

Argentina-based 3D artist Milton Sanz recently dropped his abstract piece, The homeland of the spirit, to be accompanied by this poetic piece reflecting the emotion of his artwork.

By Milton Sanz

All the pieces of my life carry its spark. My atoms fraught with moments in which I was not being myself, its gestures turned me into a pacified being. My skin used to be a clean surface for today’s shadows; these substances summarize the moment in which life touched my body and changed forever an endless number of cells. These scars are the truth in a place where you can’t say it all. I am concerned about them but not determined by them. How could that nature alter my senses? I’m trying to find that moment in which the outside became so intimate, traces of existence between my skin and flesh.

That scene preserved its prägnanz. It is pointless to go against my will as the invisible points eagerly move on. It is useless to make an effort to forget or to relocate my senses as all the plots play the same scenes, and all the landscapes contemplate analogous reflections. These movements have been trying to find their rhythm for years, they only predict disproportionated experiences. My serenity becomes constant abandonment and my hope becomes ashes.

In a moment of mental enlightment -no malice intended- I reveal against the most sordid conditioning and I resolve to melt these old feelings. I decide to open doors in my perception; I tune sounds that resound in my consciousness or silences that raise returning questions: Is it possible to live in an impure body? How can I visit other gardens if I am still dealing with my own weed?

I am aware of the fact that only my resources can save me from the serious grievance inside me. I know that getting close to the area where the fiction was built requires a great deal of loneliness and bravery. These comebacks prevented me from moving on and finding a way out. Why do I go back to the same place over and over again? Why does my body work in such a weird way? I have to face the nonsense that lives in me; I have to stand the greed for delusion and take them on as preexistent knots of my mere perceptions. In other words, I have to capture the pulsing emptiness without judgments or evaluations.

So, I guess that a biography is not just a body but a life worth living. So, I dare to look with different eyes at the pervasive truth. I realize that I have paid with my own desires for my fake identity and that a lifetime sentence leads me to open windows instead of doors. In this troubled path, I’m just left with the impulse to seed my future in new lands. At the end of the way, the circle will close on its own so that the word “refugee” won’t necessarily mean “guarantee” and my idea of salvation will finally be gone. My days will be full of beautiful sunrises. Life will become lighter. And new ways will show up.
