Unbound Boy is a work born from a visit to a museum. As I walked through its galleries, I encountered a small portrait, a boy lying down, gazing at the sky. I felt an immediate connection, for I, too look to the sky. In my version, the arms twist and contort, perhaps reflecting a more contemporary portrait of the elasticity demanded by today’s world, to be, to remain flexible, both in relationships and in professional life. The stars shine, yet they echo as wounds; in the hands, in the chest, one carries both the brilliance and the weight of being.
