Just like in *The Oxbow*, where Thomas Cole portrays a grand landscape and the relationship between man and nature—representing the exploration and domestication of the American territory—this piece, *Step, Age II*, explores the first steps into a divided unknown. A bold, almost mad piece, two entities cohabiting as one: a word hunt on one side, cold and calculated, and on the other, a domestic yet intimidating landscape.
