“Spark” was inspired by a descent along the Navajo Loop Trail, where the interplay of light and rock felt like a spark igniting life itself. In my imagination, that sensation transformed into a bolt of lightning striking a primordial pool in the canyon. The land begins to stir, awakening the skeletal forms of young pines.
* Part of the “Revival” series, rooted in the ancient terrain of Bryce Canyon National Park and themes of ecological survival and renewal. The series emerged from memories of hiking its trails while pregnant with my second child, during a period of uncertainty about her growth. Among the amphitheaters, I witnessed weathered trees clinging to bare cliffs and stone, defying the arid terrain. Their resilience became a source of hope for both the Earth and my children.
