In "Channel," I was inspired by how white a Douglas Fir from the Navajo Loop basin appeared, bathed in bright moonlight. It transformed in my imagination and became a conduit, drawing energy from the sky and rocky soil to shine from within. It is a vessel for new growth yet to come.
* Part of the "Revival" series, rooted in the ancient terrain of Bryce Canyon National Park and themes of ecological survival and renewal. The work grew from memories of hiking its trails while pregnant with my second child, during a time of uncertainty about her growth. There among the amphitheaters, I witnessed weathered trees clinging to bare cliffs and stone, defying the arid terrain. Their resilience became a source of hope for the Earth and my children.
