“Spectra”

Edition 1 of 1

A celestial body falls endlessly through a wormhole, suspended in space and time. ‘Spectra’ is part of an ongoing exploration of shape and color.
It draws from the mysteries of space which is a huge inspiration. When I think of the universe, it carries me to the wondrous places I wish I could visit.

Artist.

“About Zero”

Edition 1 of 1

I’m thinking about 0, about the middle and the whole. I’m thinking about the beginning and the end, about the tip and the bottom. Actually I’m not thinking, I’m a being who imagines thinking. Being? I don’t imagine. I imagine that I imagine. I’m nothing and everything. We are nothing and everything. Probably (probably not), we are nothing which can shelter everything.

“Midsummer”

Edition 1 of 1

The goddess observes the world around her, full of love and unafraid. Hand-painted collage of oil on paper and acrylic on canvas. Completed February 2022.

I like to paint monsters.

“Ego Death”

Edition 1 of 1

“Ego Death” represents the mystical experience of transcending the human ego.
In this animation, the Grim Reaper has gained enlightenment while well known creatures from my past paintings watch in astonishment from behind.
The raw materials of this animation were created from my 2013 painting of the same name.
It was also the centerpiece and title of an epic solo show I had at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica,
CA where I turned the whole gallery into a funeral parlor for a “funeral for the ego”.
Complete with funeral goers, a funeral procession,
a weeping widow and an undertaker who read a eulogy while my character “Black Magick”
(who represented the ego) was lying in a nearby coffin, the whole affair (as well as one of the biggest synchronicities of my life involving the painting)
was captured in Mike Correll’s 2016 documentary about me entitled “Chet Zar: I Like To Paint Monsters”. Original “Ego Death” painting specs: 36×48″,
oil on canvas with custom bronze frame corners. Animation (1400x2000px) and audio created by me in Adobe After Effects and Logic Pro X.

“The Inmaterial: The only way is through”

Edition 1 of 1

The Inmaterial part 2: One day I asked myself. If I were to draw the internet, how would it look like?
The idea of the metaverse has two faces, on one side it’s a big business with lots of bidders interested in owning a premonitory virtual space, where we all spend most of our time.
And on the other side it’s fantasy, an unbearable poetry about our virtual experience.
Many of us find refuge and understand more of who we are,
thanks to our virtual friends.
We see hope in a new Web, where decentralization brings us closer to each other and big companies go to sleep.
This way, the metaverse presents itself as a place I’ve never been to, but remember vividly. In this series of drawings, I present you those memories. And you. Do you ever have memories of laces you never visited?

“CIRCLES”

Edition 1 of 1

May 2020: The warm air held the promise of a lively summer, yet New Yorkers were feeling worn down from a springtime of separation and loss. Enter isolation cycles – symmetrical shapes chalked onto the grass of Domino Park.
These circles allowed park goers to soak up the sunshine while also staying distanced.
Though the concept of these circles felt like a simple solution to enjoy summer safely, they were juxtaposed against the background of a reeling city.
8 feet in diameter and 6 feet apart, social distance circles became the center of a citywide debate – effective and innovative, or unnecessary and pointless?

Artist and director creating visionary worlds around contemporary cultural themes.

“528 Hz”

Edition 1 of 1

Tune into the frequency.

Based in Tokyo. From a primitive perspective, explores perceptual experiences of essential nature through attempts to concisely capture the data and facts behind phenomena and shapes, emphasize them, and complicate them.

“intangible body #1”

Edition 1 of 1

TITLE: intangible body #1 CREATED BY: Shohei Fujimoto YEAR: 2022 DIMENSIONS: 1000×1000 px SIZE: 37,334,286 bytes TYPE: GIF image Shohei Fujimoto’s first NFT. Visual using MRI sequence data(430 images)

existence and embodiment of human beings that cannot be duplicated and creates the concept of material intangibility and the situation that embodiment is not removed.

“{Centriole} #8” by Agoria brings art and science together

By Chris Ostoich

Science and Art, the two primary means of understanding the salient truths of human existence, often dance in near proximity. Leonardo da Vinci famously designed beautiful machines of war and meticulous drawings based on human dissection. Marie Curie’s discovery of radium led to glow-in-the-dark clock faces and art of every variety. Now, too, does French artist Agoria, with biologist Alice Meunier, mix art with science in “Centriole.”

“Centriole” is a demonstration of this marriage of science and art in practice. The new works on SuperRare, described as biological generative art, capture the mysterious, celestial process of the formation of organelles in living cells in the brain. The series, delivered as short films, have managed to capture a delicate dance that organelles take to allow discreet but indispensable hair cells called celia to grow. In the main role is the centriole.

“{Centriole} #8” by Agoria on SuperRare

Meunier, an IBENS CNRS researcher, has spent years studying the inner workings of the brain and has been able to capture these groundbreaking films at a resolution of 1/10000 of a millimeter. That’s 1000 times smaller than the thickness of a sheet of paper. The resulting capture is something so stunning that it challenges the distinction between science and art. And it begs the question: does it matter?

The artist, Agoria, believes that the two are one in the same, and exist as something inside all of us and all things. A pioneer of the French electronic music movement, the producer, DJ and artist’s creative practice exists at the intersection of art, science and technology. He is bringing this to life by exploring the possibilities of AI, generative algorithms and living systems.

“Centriole” is transformational in many ways.  It is an achievement in research, and an accomplishment in living art.  It is also perhaps a glimpse at what academic research might look like or how it could be impacted by the advancements in Web3.  If science is art, and the work can be tokenized and made available to collectors, how might this shift the traditions by which research is funded and capitalized?  What other bodies of research have art hidden inside? In science, as in art, two important parameters are needed to be free of any influence: time and disinterested money.

“Melancholy”
Edition 1 of 1
Magic is the practice of manipulating natural or supernatural forces through the use of beliefs or actions. When it comes to religion and science, it’s common to think of them as separate from magic. During this process, I frequently lost track of time and I kept going back to the second verse of the Emerald Tablet. As I read the lines, I stopped for a moment to wonder about my perception of reality in the universe and if there is another me somewhere in a lost dimension thinking the same. As above, so below.
Hi, I’m Léa, a creative director and motion designer, working in Paris. After my studies in design and applied arts, I graduated from the Gobelins school and started my career as a freelancer. See u!

“Mirror Mirror”
Edition 1 of 1
‘Mirror Mirror’ is a candid street photograph that explores the relationship between color & composition while examining the poetic possibilities hidden within our surroundings.  This photograph was a defining moment in my journey as a creative street photographer – A chance encounter with a harmonious arrangement of elements, tied together by rhythmic patterns of red & black woven throughout the frame.
In the foreground, two mirrors reach skyward as unlikely flowers sprung from the concrete. The mirrors resemble shallow pools,
reflecting hints of an alternate reality painted on the opposing wall. To the far left, the symbolic shape of a bird rhymes with both the woman’s stride in the center and the frame of the rightmost mirror.
Between the mirrors, a woman takes her confident step, with triangulated glints of gold from head to toe, seemingly unaware of the role she plays in punctuating the poetry being written around her. For the mindful eye, the street is a playground.

Rare Art: “Dream Machine 1 (Coke)” by Jojo Anavim

Capitalism has all but banished us to a hellscape that only billionaires can escape via personal space rocket, which is why Jojo Anavim’s “Dream Machine 1 (Coke)” couldn’t have come at a better time. The Coke dispenser floating through earth’s orbit is playful, comical, and just the right amount of serious. The earth, as seen through space, exhibits constellation-like structures illuminated with a warm, orange glow. Lights of civilization or raging forest fires? Could be both. “I wanted to create an NFT that was an organic evolution of my paintings,” Jojo told SuperRare. “I’m classically trained as a video FX / graphic artist and it’s exciting to come back to my roots. Between my fascination with outer space, which is also a recurring theme in my artwork, and the first work of art I ever saw–Warhol’s Coke Bottle paintings–the resulting work is not only nostalgic but also deeply personal.”

Staring at the revolving soda machine, one can’t help but feel a sense of calm and whimsy that reminds them how yummy that caramel-colored, fizzy drink is, especially over ice. “I love the brand identity (and the taste),” Jojo said. “Hate the calories,” he added.

Dream Machine 1 (Coke) by Jojo Anavim on SuperRare

The artwork is both silly and surreal, ready for enjoyment. “My dream has always been to create sculptures that are larger than life,” Jojo said. “The context of a comically massive vending machine orbiting the earth allowed me to realize a visual which would otherwise be impossible to create in the physical world.”  The machine spins, the lights go out, and the dark side of the machine shows its woeful belly to the observer before the animation snaps back to the beginning.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy Anavim’s never-ending cycle of that crisp, cold flavor of escapism that is just a few bucks away.

About the Artist

NYC artist Jojo Anavim’s works are part of permanent collections in museums and hotels around the globe, including Coca-Cola Archives Museum, Atlanta, GA; New York Yankees Collection, and Dream Hotels, NY. In 2020 he was selected by Christie’s Auction House to create a unique artwork for the 2020 US Presidential election. Anavim is recognized for his notable collectors including Seth McFarlane and Selena Gomez, and has been covered by global press including The New York Times, and Forbes.

“The Nightsong”

Edition 1 of 1

I used to have night terrors in my 20s, startled from sleep by the idea of death.
When we are awake, our brain shields us from our mortal truth by refusing to link our self with it.
Death is something that happens to others, not to us.
Waking up too quickly for this primal mechanism to kick in left me to staring right at my own mortality. Things have gotten easier since then. The night terrors eventually wore off, but death keeps teasing me.
It’s the bad joke at a party you’re trying to laugh off, but it follows you home and pesters you. The bittersweet ending to that long awaited holiday, the bad cherry on top of your cake.
I keep asking myself. What to do when there’s no stopping a train you’re already on? And I keep telling myself.
Hold on tightly, let go lightly. Hold on tightly, let go lightly. Hold on tightly, let go lightly.

“21st Century Rage”

Edition 1 of 1

broke my brain doing mental
gymnastics

Mike Szpot aka illkoncept is a New York City based artist who specializes in documentary, street, and urban photography. Mike is a storyteller whose work evocatively sheds light on beauty in the mundane and fleeting moments often overlooked by others. Routinely walking miles on end combing the streets, ill captures scenes resembling a surrealistic movie. A sense of nostalgia also emanates from his art influenced by an older, grittier New York. View his links here –> https://linktr.ee/illkoncept

“INCEPTION”

Edition 1 of 1

“Inception” is the first installment of illkoncept’s Illusions series.
This image was shot in Chicago, IL entirely in-camera by using the reflective glass bottom of a skybridge.
Illusions is a series that provokes viewers to slow down, think outside the box, and question the way they look at things.
All of us ultimately live in an illusion where our perspective determines our reality, and no two realities are the same.
Using reflections of glass and puddles, this series creates candid optical illusions around urban settings that leave viewers questioning which direction is even right-side up.

Lorenzo Quinn is a leading figurative sculptor whose work is inspired by masters such as Michelangelo, Bernini and Rodin. Exhibited internationally, his monumental public art and smaller, more intimate pieces transmit his passion for eternal values and authentic emotions. He is best known for expressive recreations of human hands. ‘The hand has been the basis for humanity’s evolution and holds the power to communicate, to give, to receive, to love, to hate, to create and to destroy’.

“Metamorph”

Edition 1 of 1

In the nature of things, I must soon
lose sight of this sense of constant
metamorphosis whose limits bound
our human life. -Resolution: 11730 ×
9300 px

as a fine artist, I visualize and cultivate stories of wonder and chaos through layered color, breathy line-work and distinctive illustrations. inspired by all the words I couldn’t say, anything that made me feel less that what I thought I was worth. a black man looking for his moment to cry, cracking the generational wall of trauma. the key I wanted to make me whole. I use my abstracts to dramatize everyday feelings as the stories dance over the line of reality. the fine freedom of emotion.
